Kathleen Gardinier

Kathleen Gardinier, 67, of Sheffield Lake, died Monday, March 14, 2016 at Amherst Manor Retirement Community after a short illness. Kathleen was born November 4, 1948 in Buffalo, NY and had been a Sheffield Lake resident for the past 7 years moving from Amherst and Vermilion. She graduated from the Murray Ridge School. Kathleen worked in the Murray Ridge Workshop. She had also worked part time in the housekeeping department at Kingston Nursing Home and in the kitchen at Bob's Big Boy. She was a member of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church, Sheffield, and a former member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Amherst, and St. Mary Catholic Church, Vermilion. She enjoyed bowling, the holiday dances at Murray Ridge, being involved with the decorating committees at Murray Ridge, participating in the Special Olympics, following the Cleveland Indians, and family picnics. She is survived by her brother, Frank (Brenda) Gardinier of Vermilion and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Helen (nee Foirchette) Gardinier; sisters, Helen Hancock and Nancy Forman; and brothers, James and Paul Gardinier. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 17, 2016 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion. Prayers will be said at the funeral home on Friday, March 18, 2016 at 10:00 am followed by a 10:30 am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Catholic Church, 731 Exchange St., Vermilion. Father Ronald Brickner will officiate. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
