Kathryn "Kay" R. Heberling (nee Witzlaben), 96, formally of Vermilion, died Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at Altenheim Nursing Facility, Strongsville after a lengthy illness. She was born February 20, 1919 in Lorain and moved from Wakeman to Vermilion in 1941where she resided until moving to Strongsville in 2010. Kay had attended the Cleveland Spencerian College of Business and worked for City Service Oil Company, Fidelity Casualty Insurance Company, Cleveland, South Shored Packing, Vermilion, and Davis Bessie Nuclear Power Plant, Port Clinton as a book keeper retiring in 1974. She was a member of the Vermilion Evangelical & Reformed Church where she had been involved with the Merry Makers and Over 60's. She had also been a member the Althea Chapter #438 Order of the Eastern Star Monroeville for 75 years. She enjoyed playing cards. Kay is survived by her daughters, Ann Marie (John) Botson of Brunswick and Sherry Kay (William) Winn of Warsaw, IN; 9 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Heberling in 1971; parents, Arthur G. and Reah (nee Schwartz) Witzlaben; daughter, Janet Sablack in 1993, and a brother, Arthur Witzlaben. The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 1, 2015 from 3-7 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, OH where there will be an Eastern Star service at 3:00 pm conducted by the Althea Chapter # 438. Funeral services will be Monday, March 2, 2015 at 10:00 am at the funeral home. The Reverend Nick Cacciatore will officiate. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
