Kay Dabrowski

Kay Frances (Bowers) Dabrowski, 67, of Vermilion, died Saturday, August 18, 2012 at Denise's Home Care Center, Lorain surrounded by family after an extended illness. Kay was born July 23, 1945 in Defiance, OH, the daughter of Harold Bowers and Laura (Lantz) Eitniear. She married George Albert Dabrowski, Jr. on October 14, 1967 in Lorain, Ohio. Kay was a 1963 graduate of Defiance High School and a 1967 graduate of Kent State University, where she earned a degree in English and secondary education. She taught and lived in Hawaii, but she spent 28 years as a dedicated high school English teacher at Marion L. Steele High School in Amherst, Ohio. She retired in 1997. Kay loved reading, watching movies, and listening to music. She was also an avid traveler; she explored the United States, Europe, Australia, Mexico and Canada with family and friends and visited her sisters and brothers whenever she had the opportunity. She had a vibrant personality and a caring disposition. She brought tremendous joy to everyone who knew her. Survivors include her husband; one son, George Dabrowski III (Stacy Brown) of Avon Lake and one daughter, Laura (Jeremy) Brogan, of Amherst; two grandsons, Benjamin and Connor Brogan; two sisters, Deanna (Sid) Childress of Bryan and Eloise (Tom) Walter of Las Vegas, NV; sister-in-law, Julie Ann (Ralph) Osting of Lorain, four brothers, Jerry (Renee) Eitniear of Phoenix, AZ, Larry (Rita) Bowers of Hamilton, IN, Clark (Lauren) Bowers of Meridian, ID, and Brad (Karen) Bowers, of Burlington, Canada, and step mother, Helen Eitniear. She was preceded in death by her parents, step parents, Bernard and Lola, and a brother, Eric Bowers. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio, and on Thursday , August 23, 2012 from 10 am until the time of a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am at St. Mary Catholic Church, 731 Exchange Street, Vermilion. Father Walter H. Jenne will officiate. The family suggests memorial contributions to Amherst Exempted Village Education Foundation: In Memory of Kay F. Dabrowski, 185 Forest St, Amherst, Ohio 44001.
