Kelly J Shook

Kelly Shook, 72, of Vermilion, died Thursday, June 9, 2022 at his home after a brief illness. He was born April 28, 1950 in Coeburn, Virginia and had been a Vermilion resident since 1970. Kelly was a veteran of the Army serving during Vietnam and a Purple Heart Recipient. He graduated from Berlin Heights High School in 1968, where he excelled in sports. He attended the Ohio State University prior to being drafted. Kelly worked for Kishman Fish for 12 years and the sheet metal union retiring in 2009. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Parish in Vermilion, and was an avid golfer and fisherman. He enjoyed traveling, collecting beach glass, taking day trips with his wife, Jane, and taking out his boats, "Sweet Jane" and "All Shook Up". He was an annual snowbird to Crane Lakes, Florida with his wife where they participated in many leagues. He was know for making fish dinners with his special coleslaw recipe. He was a devoted father and grandfather, taking his sons and grandchildren, fishing, camping, and golfing. He is survived by his sons, Jim (Shelley) Shook of Vermilion, and Rusty (Mona) Shook of St. Clair Shores, MI; grandchildren, Tyler, Colin and Grace; brother, Ron (Paula) Sr. Shook of Springfield; and sisters, Kathy Shook and Tammy Wilde, both of Norwalk. He was preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Jane (nee Yunker) Shook; parents, Grant and Trula (nee Payne) Shook; and sister, Sharon Brown. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 from 4-7 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Prayers will be said at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at 10 am followed by a 10:30 Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Catholic Parish, 731 Exchange Street, Vermilion, OH 44089.
