Kenneth Robert Evenson, Sr. 88, formerly of Vermilion, died Friday, May 19, 2006 in St. Ann Hospital, Westerville . He was born June 30, 1917, in Cleveland and had lived in Vermilion for more than 50 years. He lived in Florida before moving to Westerville in 2006. He graduated from Avon High School in 1934. He received two bachelor's degrees one in Mechanical Engineering and another in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from the University of Michigan in 1939. He was an entrepreneur. As a self-employed building contractor, he did work in Avon Lake and constructed the South Shore Shopping Center and the former Vermilion YMCA. He owned several Casey's Restaurant Franchises. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Antique Automobile Club of America, Avon Lake Kiwanis, Lorain County Builders Association and the Restaurant Association. Survivors include daughters, Suzanne Evenson of Inverness, FL, Sally Gelbaugh of Georgetown, TX , Sherrill Pryor of Chelsea, MI , Sandy McClimans of Calgary, Alberta, Shelley Evenson of Pittsburg, PA ; son, Bob Evenson of Galena; 18 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and a brother, Elmer Evenson, Jr., New York. Preceding him in death were his wife, Catherine "Kay" Cecilia Evenson, Jan 5, 2005; parents Elmer Theodore and Jennie (nee Anderson) Evenson; stepbrother, Walter Evenson; and step-sister, Jeanne Berger. Friends may call Tuesday, May 23, 2006 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Services will be held at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 3747 Liberty Ave, Vermilion, Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. Reverend Terry Parker, Pastor, will officiate.
