Kenneth Francis Pahl, 80 of Vermilion, died Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at his home after a lengthy illness. He was born September 25, 1928 in Findlay, Ohio. He has been a Vermilion resident for the past 25 years, moving from the Lorain area. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving as a machinist mate during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a Pipe fitter for Ford automotive plant in Lorain for 35 years, retiring in 1994. Kenneth was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Vermilion. He was also a member of the AMVETS Post #22, American Legion Post # 397, and the UAW # 425. He loved to sail, fish, and travel. He is survived by his daughter, Bonnie Elizabeth McGee of Crestwood, KY; sons: Michael Gerard Pahl of Tallahassee, FL, Kenneth Ashley Pahl of Elyria, Leonard Lee Pahl of Huron, and Todd Stacey Pahl Sasebo, Japan; step daughters, Kathy Ann Bloss of Ashland, Karen Sue Chemello of Traverse City, MI; step sons: James Patrick Connors of Norcross, GA; William Michael Connors of Traverse City, MI; Christopher Jay Connors of Findlay, and Kevin Joe Connors of Traverse City, MI; 13 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; brothers, Ned and Bob Pahl of Findlay; and sisters Mary Collet of Mansfield and Norma Doyle of Findlay. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruthanna "Tootie" Pahl, on December 13, 2005; his parents, Ignatius and Elizabeth (nee Kinstle) Pahl, and a grandson David Pahl. The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 15, 2008 from 11:00 am until the time of Funeral Services at 2:00 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, with Father Jim Holmer officiating. The Vermilion Veterans Council will also conduct military honors at 2 pm at the funeral home. Memorial Contributions maybe made to the New Life Hospice, 5255 North Abbe Road, Elyria, Ohio 44035-1450.
