Kenneth Earl Showman

Kenneth Earl Showman, 80, of Wakeman, died Saturday, October 15, 2011 at Elyria Memorial Hospital after a sudden illness. Kenneth was born January 20, 1931 in Somerset, PA, and had been a Wakeman area resident since 1951. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean war. Kenneth worked for American Ship, Lorain as a pipe fitter and retired after 35 years. He had been a member of the Boilermakers Union and enjoyed woodcarving, woodworking, crossword puzzles, watching tv, cookouts, and spending time with his family. He is survived by his daughters, Cynthia (Wayne) Myers of Oberlin, Deborah (John) Fisher, Amherst, Beatrice Knott, Wakeman and Connie Stanley, Cleveland; sons, Kenneth (Connie) Showman, Conway SC, Walter Showman, Wakeman, Donald Showman, Vermilion and Jeffrey (Denise) Showman, Berlin Heights; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; brothers, Dennis, Forrest, and Raymond Showman of PA; and sister, Vada Harrold of PA. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Lillian M (nee Hillen) Showman; parents Walter Dewey and Mary Catherine (nee Shaulis) Showman; son, Charles Showman; brothers, Ashley Campbell, Duane, Frank, and Lane Showman; and sister, Dolores Miller. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, OH. Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. The Reverend Richard Kretchmar will officiate. Interment will follow at Cable Cemetery, Florence Township where the Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct Military Honors.
