Larry L. Davis

September 25, 1945 — January 12, 2025

Larry L. Davis, 79, of Vermilion, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 12, 2025, at Mercy Regional Medical Center.

Born on September 25, 1945, in Marengo, Ohio, Larry made Vermilion his home for the past 53 years after moving from Lorain.

Larry dedicated 34 years to his career as a Union Carpenter with Local 212, retiring in 1997. Beyond his work, he was a man of many passions. He loved the outdoors and found joy in hunting, trapping, and fishing. His creativity knew no bounds-he spent countless hours in his workshop crafting dulcimers, designing intricate wire jewelry, and exploring his artistic side. Larry also enjoyed metal detecting and nurturing his herb garden.

Known for his mischievous spirit and captivating storytelling, Larry often joked about his "great wisdom of Old Indian tricks" and claimed to know secrets "only the Indians and the horses knew." His humor and charm left an indelible mark on all who knew him.

Larry is survived by his children, Laurie (Jeff) Hamilton of Vermilion and Chad (Missy) Davis of Milan; his beloved grandchildren, Brooke Hamilton, Chad Davis, and Katie Calmes; and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Candy Lazoff of Naples, FL, Sharon Shatzer of Tiro, OH, and Jackie Byrne of Bucyrus, OH; his partner, Linda Moes; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Edie, in 2007; his parents, Roy and Isabelle (née Franks) Davis; his sister, Royette Poole; and a great-grandson.

Private services will be held in his honor.
