Laura Jane Decker (née Natividad), 77, of Vermilion, passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at Mercy New Life Hospice after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on February 15, 1947, in Philadelphia, PA, Jane had been a resident of Vermilion for many years
Jane dedicated 15 years to Bell Telephone in customer service. She then sold printing before transitioning to roles at Murray Ridge School and Safety Travel Chair.
She was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church in Vermilion and a former member of the Vermilion YMCA, where she enjoyed teaching fitness classes. She enjoyed volunteer work and was always wiling to step up when needed. Jane loved flowers as well as ballet, classical music and art. She enjoyed baking, especially cookies, traveling, and camping. Her favorite trips were Western Adventures, Alaska, Europe (for her honeymoon) and New Zealand She will be remembered for her kindness to everyone. "She was pretty on the outside, and beautiful on the inside."
She is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, William Decker of Vermilion; her sisters, Andrea and Carol Ann, several nieces and a nephew.
Jane was preceded in death by her mother, Eleanor (nee Greenwood) Dietrich.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 5, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Untied Methodist Church, 13406 West Lake Street, Vermilion, OH 44089.
