Laura R. Winger-Blakeslee

Laura R. Winger-Blakeslee (nee Nichols), 74, of Vermilion, was surrounded by her family when she died Monday, May 25, 2015 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, Lorain after a lengthy illness. She was born February 9, 1941 in Cleveland, grew up in Moreland Hills, and had been a Vermilion resident since 1980 moving from Lorain. Laura graduated from the Orange High School, Chagrin Falls class of 1959 and worked for Lake Pointe Nursing Home (Formerly Ohio Extended Care) as a LPN for over 30 years retiring in 2008. She had attended the Evangelical and Reformed Church, Vermilion and the Vincent United Methodist Church, Lorain. Laura loved gardening, bird watching, traveling to Amish country, fishing, and especially loved spending time with her family. She is survived by her sons, James W. Winger IV of Cleveland and John Nichols (Shelly) Winger of Kathleen, GA; daughters, Deborah A. (Mark) Zeiter of New London and Katherine (Alex II) Ravis of Vermilion; 9 grandchildren; and sister, Marilyn Mowery of Avon Lake. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bert W. and Ruth (nee Gronemeyer) Nichols.
