Lauren Ashley Mitchell

Lauren Ashley Mitchell, 39, of Green Springs, Ohio, formerly of Vermilion, passed away Monday, September 21, 2026, at Elmvue Group Home following a sudden illness.

Lauren was born July 28, 1987, in Lorain, Ohio, and had been a resident of Green Springs for the past nine years, moving there from Vermilion. She graduated from Norwalk High School, where she was proudly named Prom Queen and was honored to speak during her graduation ceremony.

Lauren worked at Double S Industries of Erie County. She found great joy in the simple things in life-especially movies and food. She could watch her favorite movies over and over again, including Grease 1 and 2, Beauty and the Beast, Sister Act 1 and 2, Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, and Beethoven 1 and 2. She loved them so much that she was known to wear out more than a few VCRs and DVD players over the years!

Lauren had some definite favorites when it came to food. She loved fettuccine Alfredo, especially from Olive Garden, as well as burgers and fries, lemon meringue pie, and Coke. If Lauren had her favorite foods and her favorite movies, she was happy. She also enjoyed swimming.

Lauren was strong-willed, outspoken, and completely unapologetic about being herself. She had a wonderfully colorful personality and was never afraid to say exactly what was on her mind. Her dad affectionately joked that she could “cuss like a sailor” and called her a “truck driver” because of her burps, gas, and colorful language. Lauren was never one to hide her feelings-you either knew she loved you or knew she didn’t! She was truly one of a kind, and there was never anyone quite like her.

Lauren was a very special person who brought her own unique personality, humor, and spirit to the lives of those around her. Her family will never be the same without her, and she will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her parents, Brian and Lisa (nee Shimrock) Mitchell of Vermilion; sister, Lyndsey (Manny) Paris of Amherst; nephew, Zeke; niece, Mia; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

For the past nine years, Elmvue Group Home was Lauren’s home, and the staff there became like family to her. Lauren was happy at Elmvue and never wanted to leave. Her family is deeply grateful for the love, kindness, and care the staff provided to Lauren throughout those years.

Private family services will be held.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Ritter Public Library, Vermilion.
