It is with unbearable grief that my beloved husband, Lawrence "Larry" Richard Nagy, 76, of Florence Twp., passed away on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at Kingston of Vermilion after complications with COPD.
Larry was born on December 23, 1946, in Lorain, OH to Robert and Anna (nee Hunady) Nagy. He had been a Florence Twp. resident for the past 31 years, moving from Lorain.
Larry served his country with honor as a veteran of the US Army during Vietnam where he was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for Heroism. After his service, he worked for Lake Terminal Railroad Co. and Norfolk Southern Railway as a Railroad Conductor for 34 years, retiring in 2006.
Larry was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Wakeman and a 43 year member of AA where he enjoyed the friends he made and the people he has helped. He was also a member and past president of the Bachelors Club when he was in Admiral King High School. He enjoyed bowling, doing yard work and caring for his Koi fish pond. He was also an avid Cleveland sports fan, holding Cleveland Browns season tickets for 20 years.
Larry is survived by his first love and wife of 32 years, Susan Nagy of Wakeman; sister, Judy Finlayson of Akron; sons, Tony Contreras of Sheffield Lake, Joseph Contreras and favorite daughter in-law, Tina Contreras both of Mount Washington, KY, and David Rebok of Lorain; grandchildren, Brianna, Jordan, Madison, Chase, Alex, Jordan, Andrew, David and Skylar; great grandchildren, Mikai and Iale; and numerous nieces and nephews.
