Lee Lake Ellsworth

Lee Lake Ellsworth, 88, of Vermilion, died Friday, May 17, 2013 at the Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky. Lee was born April 11, 1925 in Akron and had been a Vermilion resident since 2001 moving from Sagamore Hills. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving as a Pharmacist's Mate 2nd class during World War II on the Latimer. He graduated from Baldwin Wallace college where he was president of the National Alumni Association twice and an active member of the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity, BW Chapter, from 1947 until recently. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and .enjoyed tennis, jogging, and refereeing wrestling in High Schools and Cleveland area colleges. He also worked at Camp Y -Noah, a boys camp, in Akron. Lee worked for General Tire in Akron for 34 years as an advertising and printing buyer. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Mary Louise (nee Evers) Ellsworth; sister, Joy Heron of Santa Barbara, CA, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Gertrude (nee Cook) Ellsworth and a sister, Suzanne Hilbish, Oct. 2005. The family will receive friends on Friday May 24, 2013 from 10:30 a.m.until the time of a funeral service at 11:30 a.m. at the Ohio Veterans Home Giffin Chapel, 3416 South Columbus Ave., Sandusky, Ohio. The Reverend Paul Birmingham, Chaplain of the Ohio Veterans Home, will officiate. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Ohio Veterans Home, 3416 South Columbus Ave., Sandusky, Ohio 44870.
