Leo Kensicki Jr., 84, of Vermilion, died Monday, January 16, 2023 at MetroHealth Medical Center after a sudden illness.
He was born October 25, 1938 in Dillonvale, OH and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 50 years moving from Amherst.
Leo was a veteran of the US Army. He worked for Ford Motor Co., Lorain as a Weld Inspector for 35 years, retiring in 1994.
Leo was a member of St. Mary Catholic Parish, Vermilion, Amherst Eagles, and a life member of Amvets Post #22. He enjoyed bowling over the past 50 years, gardening, traveling, especially to Las Vegas, working out at the Vermilion Family YMCA and Anytime Fitness, and spending time with his grandchildren and family.
He is survived by his daughters, Bonnie (Greg) Fish of Amherst, Lynn (Bill) Allen of Vermilion, and Diane (Murray) Orlov of Orlando, FL; grandchildren, Laura, Cara, Grant, Jake and Taylor, brothers, Paul Kensicki of NC, John "Jack" Kensicki of Dillonvale and Florian "Butch" Kensicki of Dillonvale; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra (nee Bieth) Kensicki in 2016; parents, Leo, Sr, and Julia (nee Lisazeski) Kensicki; brothers, Anthony, Jim and Frank Kensicki; and his sisters, Barbara Parish, Debbie Kensicki and Julia Frank.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, Jan. 19, 2023 from 3-7 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Prayers will be said at the funeral home on Friday, Jan. 20, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. followed by a 10:30 Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Catholic Church, 731 Exchange Street, Vermilion, OH 44089. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion where there will be Military Honors.
