Leon Wright

Leon F. Wright, 85, of Vermilion, passed away Thursday, April 2, 2026 at his home following a lengthy illness.

He was born January 13, 1941 in Glenville, West Virginia, and had made Vermilion his home for the past 48 years, moving from Lorain.

Leon dedicated 30 years of service to the United States Postal Service. He began his career as a mail carrier and later retired in 2000 as a clerk.

He enjoyed an active life and especially loved hunting, golfing, bowling, and playing softball, often as a member of the Huff and Puffers team. In earlier years, he also enjoyed racing, particularly super modified cars.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Wanda (nee Goble) Wright of Vermilion; daughters, Melinda (Jamie) Marti of Berlin Heights and Anita (Kevin) Justice of Lorain; son, Robert Wright of Lorain; grandchildren, Hope, Kevin Jr., Skyla, Anthony, Megan, Sara, Abigail, and Sam; and great-grandchildren, Dolly, Rosemary, Izzy, Nie, Ione, Madison, and Autumn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow “Woody” and Lucille (nee Hewitt) Wright; and his son, Leon F. Wright, Jr.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, April 9, 2026 at 12 Noon at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon, where military honors will be presented.
