Leona "Lee" Shattuck (nee Bartels), 83, of Vermilion, died Monday, August 20, 2018 at her home after a lengthy illness. She was born February 20, 1935 in Lakewood and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 60 years moving from Lakewood. Lee owned and operated Lee's Landing in Vermilion for the past 47 years. She was also an accomplished artist and supplied much of the art work sold in her store. Lee also taught ceramic classes out of her home when she was younger. She had been a member of United Church of Christ Congregational, Vermilion and attended Grace United Methodist Church, Vermilion. She was a member of the Order Of The Eastern Star Madeleine Chapter #204 and the Vermilion Chamber of Commerce where she had served as secretary and came up with the slogan, "Vermilion, A Great Place To Drop Anchor". She loved Lake Erie, animals, and enjoyed crafts and traveling. She is survived by her daughter, Laurie (Tom) Stock of Elyria; sons, William (Judy) Shattuck of Vermilion and Arthur (Rachel) Shattuck of Vermilion; and her grandsons, Matthew and Andrew Lasko. She was preceded in death by her husband David E. Shattuck in 1993; parents, Elmer and Elsie (nee Winkler) Bartels; and her sister, Florence Gebbie. The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 23, 2018 from 4-8 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio where there will be an Eastern Star service at 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be Friday, August 24, 2018 at 10:30 am at the funeral home. Rev. Allison LeBrun will officiate. Interment will follow at Brownhelm Cemetery, Vermilion.
