Leonard J. Brill

Leonard J. "Len" Brill, 93, of  Vermilion, died Sunday, March 19, 2023 at Amherst Manor Retirement Community after a short illness.

He was born June 15, 1929 in Brownhelm Twp. and had been a life long Brownhelm Twp. resident.

Len was a veteran of the US Army.  He worked for Ohio Edison as an Engineer Assistant  for 42 years, retiring in 1991.

He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Parish where he served as an usher for many years.  He was also a 70 year member of Amherst Eagles, a member of Amvets Post #22; American Legion Post #397 and the Men's club for Ohio Edison.  Len served on the Vermilion Planning Commission from 1986-1991 and he drove Santa around for Brownhelm Twp. for almost 50 years.  He enjoyed golfing, gardening, especially pumpkins and squash, reminiscing about the time he was on Cash Explosion in 2016, and he especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is survived by his daughters, Patricia A. Brill, PhD of TX and Leslie J. (Lee Myers) Brill of Vermilion; and many nieces and nephews

He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years , Mary Jean (nee Niemeth) Brill; parents, Leonard "Lee" and Cecelia (nee Nagle) Brill; sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Edward Schmidt; and his son-in- law, Dean R. "Dino" Miller.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, OH 44089.  Prayers will be said at the funeral home on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. followed by an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Catholic Parish, 731 Exchange Street, Vermilion, OH.   Private Inurnment will take place at Brownhelm Cemetery, Vermilion at a later date.

The family suggests memorial contributions to  St. Mary Catholic Parish Maintenance Fund, 731 Exchange Street, Vermilion, OH  44089.
