Leslie Kay Ennis

Leslie Kay Ennis (nee Roberts), 85, of Vermilion, died Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at Mill Manor Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.

Born on June 27, 1938 in Lorain OH, she was a lifelong Vermilion resident.

After graduating at the top of her class, Leslie went on to earn degrees in Elementary and Music Education from Bowling Green State University. Besides being a full time wife and mother, she taught GED courses, along with music at the United Church of Christ, Congregational preschool.  She shared her love of music and especially the piano by teaching lessons to many children over the years.

An active member of the community, Leslie was a member of the Vermilion United Church of Christ Congregational, Vermilion College Club, where she served as President, several bridge clubs and the first Ladies Golf League.  She was an avid reader and also enjoyed golfing, traveling (including all 50 states, Ireland, Iceland, China, Hong Kong, Norway, Italy, Africa and Canada), bicycling in the SIlver Wheels bike club, baking, gardening, and snow skiing with friends at Copper Mountain in CO.  However, her favorite activities were spending time with her family/grandchildren and attending concerts/music events with her beloved husband, Buddy.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Bud Ennis of Vermilion; daughter, Valerie (Kurt) Plouck of Bryan, OH; sons, Mitch (Mingyan Yao) Ennis of Tiffin, OH and Greg  (Mary ) Ennis of Mason, OH; grandchildren, Nick (Alex), Tony( Lilly), Maddie, Kyle, Drew, Vincent & Wayne and great grandchildren, Ezra, Nico and Theo.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Grace (nee Feiszli) Roberts; sister, Lynn Hurd; and brother, Tom Roberts.

The family will receive friends on  Saturday, September 9, 2023 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio.  Funeral services will be Sunday, September 10, 2023 at 2:00 at the United Church of Christ, 990 State Route 60, Vermilion.  The Pastor Wally Burman will officiate.  Private Inurnment will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery at a later date.
