Lillian M Kinder

August 1, 1932 — March 27, 2020

Lillian M. Kinder (nee Stevens), 87, peacefully passed in her sleep on Friday March 27, 2020 following a short battle with metastatic cancer. She was born August 1, 1932 to Marion and Helena Stevens, she had a great love for family and being outdoors. Lillian loved spending time with her family, camping, fishing, traveling, and boating. She was born and raised in the Lorain county area, moving away only temporarily to Florida, and returned to the area to be closer to family. During the summers, you’d find Lillian sitting outside with her husband of 68 years, Robert (Bob) Kinder. Lillian graduated from Amherst High School in 1950. She worked for St. Joseph Hospital and then Bendix Westinghouse, Elyria as a clerk. She had also co-owned Lighthouse Limo in Lorain. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Vermilion and a former member of St. Vincent De Paul Church, Elyria where she had been involved in the Altar and Rosary Society. Lillian was also a life member of the VFW Post 7576 and Amvets Post #22 and a social member of the American Legion Post#397. She enjoyed hunting, archery, bowling, and roller skating. She survived by her husband, Robert Kinder; a son, Joe Kinder of Norwalk; daughters; Kathy (Paul) Bodde and Chris McCann both of Vermilion; grandchildren; Megan McCann, Rachel McCann, Laura MacKellar, Michael Bodde, Brad Kinder, Andrew Kinder, and Carrie Kinder; and 4 great- grandchildren, Finn MacKellar, Ben MacKellar, Ella MacKellar, and Cameron McCann. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marion F. and Helen (nee Katocs) Stevens. Private family services will take place with interment at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church, Vermilion at a later date due to the COVID 19 restrictions. The family suggests memorial contributions to St. Mary Catholic Church, 731 Exchange Street, Vermilion ,OH 44089 or American Cancer Society Ohio Division Inc,. 10501 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44106.
