Lillian J Stack

Lillian J. Stack (nee Pogacnik), 82, of Vermilion, died Monday, November 23, 2015 at her daughters home after a lengthy illness. She was born May 11, 1933 in Lorain and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 56 years, moving from Fort Lee, Virginia . She was a graduated of St. Mary High School and continued her education at Bowling Green State University where she received a Bachelors Degree in Education. She then taught in the Firelands and Vermilion school systems. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Vermilion where she was active with the Altar and Rosary Society and helped at the fish fry's. She was also a member of the Lorain Dental Auxiliary, Lorain Co. Home Economics Association, and the Vermilion Boat Club Wet Hens. Lillian enjoyed volunteering with Meals on Wheels, the Lorain Soup Kitchen, and was an assistant Girl Scout Leader. She also enjoyed restoring antiques, helping with the firehouse pancake breakfasts (using her recipe), and doing things with her family, especially camping, sailing, power boating, and skiing. She was an accomplished Ice Skater performing with the Cleveland Edges Ice Skating Club and was an instructor with the Sparklers Synchronized Skating Team. She was also an instructor for Elyria, Lorain Parks and Recreation Department in the skating program. She is survived by her daughters, Jane (Kenneth) Ferris of Sullivan and Cathy (Alton) Headworth of Goshen; son, Richard (Laurie) Stack of Cleveland Heights; grandchildren, Jeff and Janette Smith and Michael and Nina Stack; great grandchildren, Katelynn, Nicholas, Alexandra, Chloe and Silas; and sister, Mary Ann Pogacnik of Lorain. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. John Stack, parents, Vincent Edward and Josephine (nee Valentincic) Pogacnik, and brothers, Vincent and Edward Pogacnik. The family will receive friends on Saturday November 28, 2015 from 4 pm to 8 pm at Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street Vermilion. Prayers will be said at the funeral home on Monday November 30, 2015 at 9:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 am at St. Mary Catholic Church Vermilion. The Reverend Ron Brickner will officiate. Inurnment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
