Linda Ann Gossett

February 26, 1933 — September 13, 2020

Linda Ann Gossett (nee Hughes), 87, of Vermilion, fell asleep in death on Sunday, September 13, 2020 at her home after a lengthy illness, surrounded Ann was born on February 26, 1933 in Alamo, TN and grew up in Memphis, TN. On February 10, 1953, she married the love of her life, James Harley Gossett Jr., also from Memphis while he was on a short leave from the U.S. Air Force. They later moved to Virginia where James was stationed, then to California, and finally to England. In 1960, James finished his military service and they moved to Amherst, OH as he began to work for Ford Motor Company. Then in 1963, James and Ann moved to Vermilion, OH where they would settle down for the remainder of their years. She was a loving and devoted wife, always keeping her family at the center of her life. Ann spent much of her early married years doing community volunteer work at the Vermilion YMCA and Girl Scouts. However, Ann always stated that her greatest accomplishment in life was coming to know and have a personal relationship with God. In 1973, she was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, becoming very active in telling others about the wonderful hope of God’s Kingdom as a real solution for all of mankind’s problems. Her faith enabled her to endure all of life’s challenges as she had confidence in God’s promises to restore paradise conditions on earth soon. She kept those words close to her heart until the very end, knowing that one day she would see her family again in the promised resurrection on earth. (John 5:28,29) Ann will always be remembered as the extraordinary woman she was, with her quick-wit, altruism, spark of life, and gregarious personality. She is survived by her son, John (Silvia) Gossett of Vermilion; daughters, Kathy (Ted) Cooke and Jeanne, both of Vermilion; 11 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Harley Gossett Jr. on September 20, 2019, parents, Bobbie and Florence (nee Hughes); sons, Charles Michael Gossett and Jim Gossett; brothers, Bobbie Jr., Patrick, and Richard Hughes; and her sisters, Marie Anderson and Ada Guest.
