Dr. Lloyd Gene "Hap" Adams, DC, formerly of Vermilion, died at his home in West Palm Beach, FL on May 10, 2012 at the age of 79 while holding the hand of the former Jerri Zalar, his wife of 48 years. Hap was born in Oklahoma City, OK on February 16, 1933 and grew up in Independence, MO, graduating from William Chrisman High School in 1951. A Navy veteran, he practiced chiropractic in Vermilion on West Lake Rd. for 25 years before moving to Key West, FL in 1987 and West Palm Beach in 2000. The last 10 years of his life he worked as "Santa Claus" throughout South Florida. In 1990 Hap was inducted into the William Chrismas Football Hall of Fame. In his free time, he enjoyed laying rock, traveling out West to national parks and square dancing. In addition to his wife, Hap is survived by his children Dr. Elaine Adams, DC of Albuquerque, NM; Jesse Adams of Asbury Park, NJ; Shawn Adams of West Palm Beach, FL, Traci Adams of Marietta, GA; Dr. Trena Adams, DC of Marietta, GA; 5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. The family will receive well-wishers on Saturday, July 28, 2012 from 1 pm to 5 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion where a memorial service will be held at 2 pm. The Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct military honors. The family is hoping people will be willing to share some of their favorite stories about Dad during the memorial.
