Loren James Washburn

Loren James Washburn,73, of Vermilion, died Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Mercy New Life Hospice after a lengthy illness. He was born April 18, 1943 in Sandusky and had been a life long Vermilion resident. Loren had a love for farming, a career he started early in life. He then worked as a general contractor for Harmony Ridge Enterprises which he owned and operated since 1980. He had previously worked for Erie Soil and Water, Conservation District and Jonick Trucking. He was a member of St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church, Vermilion and the Erie County Fair Board. He enjoyed trail horseback riding and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Donna Washburn of Vermilion; daughter, Nikole Washburn of Berea; son, Benjamin Washburn of Little Rock, AR; grandchildren, Fiona and Lincoln Cooper; sister, Wanita Schafer of Vermilion; and several nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford O. Washburn and Eva (nee Jarrett) Trinter. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 9, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at 11 am at the funeral home. The Reverend James Peter will officiate. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
