Loretha Gay Granat

February 22, 1953 — April 19, 2025

Loretha Gay Granat (nee Andrews), 72, of Sheffield Lake, passed away on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at the Ames Family Hospice Facility after a long illness.

Born on February 22, 1953, in Buckhannon, West Virginia, Loretha moved to Northeast Ohio 57 years ago from West Virginia. Though she spent 15 years working as a seamstress for Dalton Industries in Lorain, her greatest and proudest role was that of a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Family was the heart of Loretha’s world. She dedicated her life to raising her children and cherishing every moment with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Whether hosting family gatherings, sharing stories, or simply being present, Loretha brought warmth, love, and unwavering support to those closest to her. Her happiest moments were those spent surrounded by loved ones.

She also enjoyed playing BINGO and found joy in simple pleasures and laughter shared with family.

Loretha is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Charles Granat; her sons, Stanley (Beate) Andrews of Vermilion and Charles (Amy) Granat of Madison, OH; her beloved grandchildren, Sarah Andrews, Allisha (Grant) Schildhouse, Emma Granat, and Aiden Granat, Dan Brummitt, and Trevor Brummitt and her great grandchildren, Jack and Adelaide Schildhouse, and Quinn Brummitt; and her beloved niece, who was very much like a daughter to her, Loretta "Sissy" Riley.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Rosella (nee Gibson) Andrews; her brother, Otis Andrews; and her sisters, Kay Riley, Patty Hood, Mary Riley, and Terry Glime.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Maple Grove Cemetery in Vermilion.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 17876 St. Clair Ave., Cleveland, OH 44110.
