Lottie M. Burkiewicz

Lottie M. Burkiewicz (nee Schultz), 86, of Lorain, died Friday, December 16, 2011 at Avon Oaks Nursing Home, Avon after a short illness. Lottie was born January 3, 1925 in Lorain where she has been a life long resident. She worked for St. Joseph Hospital, Lorain as a unit secretary for 17 years retiring in 1981. She was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, Lorain, and had been a member of the P.L.A.V. Post 38 Ladies Aux. Lottie enjoyed sewing, gardening, baking, and music. She especially enjoyed playing the piano. She is survived her son, John (Sharon) Burkiewicz of Sheffield Village; daughter, Rita (Leslie) Grove of Palm Harbor, FL; grandchildren: Natalie (Rob) Collier, Laura Burkiewicz, Christina Grove, Diana Grove, and Nathan Burkiewicz; great granddaughter, Stella Collier; and sister, Theresa Warner of Lorain. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Burkiewicz in 1988; son, Thomas Burkiewicz in 2004; parents, Valentine and Sophie (nee Turton) Schultz; and a sister, Vernie Cibroski. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2011 from 4-8 pm with the Altar & Rosary Society reciting the Rosary at 6:00 pm at the Dombrowski-Riddle Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 1939 Oberlin Ave. Lorain, Ohio. Prayers will be said at the funeral home on Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011 at 9:30 am followed by a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church 418 W. 15th Street Lorain.
