Louie Gene "Hi Tower" Evans III, 37, of Columbus, died Friday, April 12, 2013 at Rush Memorial, Hospital, Chicago, after complications with diabetes. He was born September 25, 1975 in Amherst, OH, and had been a Columbus resident for the past 2 years moving from Vermilion. Louie graduated from Vermilion High School and was working for Miller Transportation as a driver. He had also worked for Greyhound as a bus driver, FedEx, and laid tile for the new casino in Columbus. Louie had been a police explorer and served as a 13 year volunteer for the Vermilion Fire Department. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and researching his Hungarian and Native American heritage. He is survived by his mother, Donna Makay of Vermilion; sister, Dominique Stewart of Maryland; maternal grandparents, Lewis and Theresa (nee Kalo) MaKay; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Louie Gene Evans Jr.; and paternal grandparents, Louie Sr. and Ruthie Evans. Friends may call Wednesday, April 17, 2013 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, OH 44089. The Vermilion Fire Department will do a tribute at 7:00 pm followed by an opportunity for people to share memories. The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Association, Cleveland/Ohio Lakefront Office, 4500 Rockside Rd., Suite 440, Independence, OH 44131 or to Riddle Funeral Home, In Memory of Louie Evans, to help with expenses.
