Louis Strader Hurst, 83, of Vermilion, died Sunday, January 21, 2018 at Mill Manor Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. He was born July 23, 1934 in Cox Mill, WV and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 59 years Louis was a veteran of the US Air Force and worked as an electrician for Ford Motor Co., Lorain for 33 years retiring 1982. He was a member of the Harbourtown Community Church, Vermilion and the Confederate Air Force, Lorain. He was a model train enthusiast, collecting HO and Lionel Trains. He also enjoyed gardening, canning, and collecting guns. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Aleeta "Cappy" Holliday-Hurst of Vermilion; son, Hank (Sherry) Hurst of Gassaway, WV; a daughter Lois Hurst of WV; step sons, Calvin (Terry) Holliday of North Ridgeville and Mike (Jennifer) Holliday of Elyria; step-daughter, Revonda (Carl) Kruger of Wakeman; 15 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren; sisters, Ora (Red) Hardway of Vermilion, Dolletta Hamrick of Jane Lew, WV, and Francie Tallman of Frametown, WV; and brothers, Garland Hurst of Beaverdam, VA and Danny Hurst of Calvin, WV. He was preceded in death by his parents Garland and Ora (nee Wilson) Hurst. Services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2018 at 1:00 pm with Military Honors presented by the Vermilion Veterans Council. Pastor Jim Cooper will officiate. Private interment will take place at Rugby Cemetery, Brownhelm Twp.
