Louise Markell Moats

Louise Markell Moats , 90, of Vermilion, died Wednesday, May 5, 2004 in Community Health Partners West after a short illness. She was born July 31, 1913 in Chicago, Ill. She has been a Vermilion area resident most of her life. She co-owned with her husband, Harold, Moats Sparkle Market (M&M Food Market) in Vermilion for 30 years. She was a member of the United Church of Christ Congregational. She was also a member of the Madeleine Chapter # 204 Order of Eastern Star, Golden Agers, 60 Plus, Vermilion YMCA; and formerly a Mother Advisor for Rainbow Girls. She enjoyed stained glass, stamping, artwork, sewing, poetry and exercise. She is survived by 2 daughters, Gayle Cartledge of Brecksville, and Karen Moats of Vermilion, and 3 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Moats in 1976; a brother, Charles Markell, and her parents, Charles and Lillian (nee Baker) Markell.. The family will receive friends Friday, May 7, 2004 from 5-8 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. The Madeleine Chapter #204 Order of Eastern Star, will conduct a service at 7:30 p.m. Services will be held at the Riddle Funeral Home, Saturday, May 8, 2004, at 11 am . The Reverend Wendell Brooker, pastor of the United Church of Christ Congregational, will officiate. Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
