Louise T. Young

Louise T. Young (nee Thompson), 90 of Vermilion, died Saturday, August 30, 2008 at the New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain. Louise was born on February 4, 1918 in Lorain to Charles and Bernice (nee Graham) Thompson and had lived there until moving to Vermilion in 1946. She graduated from Lorain High School and also from DePauw University in Indiana with a degree in English education. She returned to Lorain to teach English at Clearview High School for 3 years, then spent 22 years at the Vermilion Middle School. In her retirement, she remained active as a member of the Vermilion College Club, volunteering at Lorain Community Hospital, golfing with the First Ladies Golf League and Friday Night Couples League, and participating in the membership of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. She was also a longtime member of the United Church of Christ Congregational in Vermilion. She is survived by her sons, Peter Kipp Young of Corydon, Indiana and Jonathan Graham Young of Vermilion; grandchildren, Rhonda Louise Dancull of Vermilion and David K. Young of South Amherst; and great-grandchildren, Kayla, Taylor and Dakotah. She was preceded-in-death by her husband of 65 years, Robert K. Young in 2007 and her parents. The Young Family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 2, 2008 from 3-7 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion.
