Lucian Lichlyter, age 85, of Wakeman, peacefully passed away at his home on Saturday, November 2, 2024.
Born on December 8, 1938, in Elyria, Lucian moved to Wakeman 33 years ago after living in Elyria. A proud veteran, he served as a Corpsman in the U.S. Navy, bringing care and dedication to his service.
Lucian began his career with Fruehauf Trailer Corporation and later worked as a millwright with U.S. Steel for over 30 years, retiring in 1999. He was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church in Vermilion, where he found community and fellowship.
An avid train collector and gardener, Lucian also enjoyed cooking and was known for his talent in the kitchen. Skilled and resourceful, he could weld anything and was always ready to lend a helping hand. Lucian will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and willingness to help others.
He is survived by his children: Sony (Rick) Wilkenson Of Tennessee, Lori (Shawn) Byrd of Washington, Jeffrey (Candace) Lichlyter of Cortland, Annette (Mark) Eggers of Amherst, and Barbara Fairall of Sheffield Lake; his grandchildren: Micheal, Noah, Luke, Jason, Johnnie, Lonnie, Bradford, Elizabeth, Thomas, Melissa, Savannah, Adalynne, Josiah; and his great-grandchildren: Leia, Jason Jr., Emmelyn, Dominic, Bentley, and Isiah. He also leaves behind his brother, Joe (Carolyn) Lichlyter, sisters Tammy Lichlyter of Texas, Janelle Hopson of Oregon, Serena Rogers of Arkansas, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lydia Lichlyter, in 2023; his parents, Jacob and stepmom Lillian Lichlyter; His mother Ethelyn; his brothers, Dick, Tom, and David.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday, November 8, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Reverend Cliff Morris officiating. Interment will follow at Florence Township Cemetery, Berlin Heights, where military honors will be presented.
