Mabel C. Booker

Mabel C. Booker (nee Mathews) 91, of Hernando, Mississippi passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2013 after a lengthy illness. Mabel was born July 29, 1922 in Sardis, MS, had lived in Memphis, TN, Vermilion, OH and Hernando, MS. She was a member of the Vermilion Evangelical and Reformed Church and later a member of the United Methodist Church. She was a life member of Lorain Community Hospital Auxiliary, Madeleine Chapter #204 Order of Easter Star and a member of the Grand Cross of Color. She is survived by her daughter, Phyllis (David) King of Westlake; son, Donald (Terry) Booker, Byhalia, MS; 5 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; sisters, Elise Lashlee, Southaven, MS, Ann Power, Hernando, MS; brothers, Horace Mathews, Como, MS and Danny Mathews, Hernando, MS. She was preceded in death by her husband, Giles P. Booker in 1981, daughter, Barbara Barttlet; 2 sisters and 4 brothers. Friends may call Friday from noon until 1 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio 44089. A graveside service will be held at 1:15 p.m. at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
