Mabel Streat

Mabel Streat (nee Young), 97, of Vermilion, died Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at Amherst Manor Retirement Community after a lengthy illness. She was born December 26, 1918 in Lorain and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 34 years moving from Alexandria, VA where she had lived for 44 years. Mabel owned and operated MaFran Beauty Salon in Alexandria, VA for 44 years. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Vermilion and enjoyed painting, going to the movies, and having dinner with friends. She is survived by her 14 nieces and nephews, many great nieces and nephews, adopted grandchildren: George, Lonna, Garrett, and Serena Hoffman; and dear friend, Dolores "Dee" Stinson. She was preceded in death by her husband, William James Streat in 1983; parents, John and Mathildia (nee Koleno) Young; sisters, Doris Coleman, Marion Hollingsworth, and Lois Krieger; and brothers, Robert and Wesley Young. The family will receive friends on Sunday, Oct. 16, 2016 from 12 Noon until 3:00 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Funeral services will be Monday, Oct. 17, 2016 at 11:00 am at the funeral home. The Reverend David Hall-Fry will officiate. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
