Madelene M. Szabo (nee Costello), 92, of Wakeman, died Saturday, March 13, 2021 at her home after a brief illness. She was born July 3, 1928 in Lorain and had been a Wakeman resident for the past 49 years moving from Lorain. Madlene was a member of St. Mary Catholic Parish, Vermilion. She had been a member of St. Peters, Lorain where she was involved with the Legion of Mary. She had also belonged to the Harbor View Ladies Group and enjoyed reading, baking, large holiday celebrations; and she especially loved spending time with her family. She is survived by her daughters, Helen (Joe) Muska of Vermilion, Kathleen Ratliff of Vermilion, and Madalyn (Emory "Andy") Anderson of Louisville, KY; grandchildren, Lori, Michael, Joey, Andy, and John; and her great grandchildren, Casey, Corey, Andrew, Reagan, and Sloane. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Szabo in 2010; parents, Peter and Magdeline (nee Cercelli) Costello; brothers, Charles, Peter, Phillip, Steve, John, Pat, and Joe; sisters, Francis Salatnai, Pauline Croul, and Mary Rossi; and her son-in-law, Ernest Ratliff. Private visitation and Mass will be held with interment at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
