Margaret V. "Margie" Michalek (nee Vargo), 94 of Lorain, died Saturday, October 11, 2008 at the New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain. She was born July 18, 1914 in Lorain and had been a lifelong resident. She worked as a private secretary for the Nelson Stud Welding Company and the Townsend & Bottom Company, both in Lorain. She was a lifetime member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Lorain. She enjoyed painting, yoga and pets. She is survived by her nieces, Carolyn (Frank) Spkovsky and Janice Kessinger, both of Lorain; 4 great nieces and nephews and 2 great-great nieces; God-daughter, Regina Yando of Massachuesetts. She was preceded-in-death by her husband, Edward J. Michalek in 1995, parents, Frank and Rose (nee Novak) Vargo, brother Frank Vargo and sister-in-law and caregiver, Charlotte Springowski. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 14, 2008 from 10:00 am until the time of service at 10:30 am at the Dombrowski-Humphrey-Riddle Funeral Home, 1939 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain, Ohio. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. In leiu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 418 W. 15th Street, Lorain, Ohio 44052.
