Marguerite Marie Myers (nee Koenig), 95, of Vermilion, died peacefully Monday, September 2, 2013 at New Life Hospice, Lorain, with her entire family at her bedside. Marguerite was born on June 11, 1918 in Cleveland and had lived in Vermilion since 1945. She attended Cleveland Preparatory School of Business and worked for the City of Vermilion from 1966-1995. She was Clerk of Courts, secretary to Mayor Louis Rauh and worked for the Vermilion Municipal Court. She had also been Ted Wakefield's secretary at Wakefield Brass. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Catholic Ladies of Columbia, and Altar Rosary Society. She was Presiding Judge for the Board of Elections and a clerk at voting polls. She enjoyed reading, sewing and rose gardening. Marguerite was involved in Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, the Charter Days Committee in 1962 and Clerk of the Cemetery. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Lynn (Frank) Homitz, Vermilion; son, Lee Charles (Kathleen) Myers, Vermilion; 3 grandchildren, Matt (Annette) Myers and Renee Myers; 3 great grandchildren, Bear, Skyler, Brayden (Hawk); and a sister, Elaine Janecek, Brookpark. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles O. and Mary (nee Borkowski) Koenig; her husband, Herbert C. Myers; sisters, Helen Smith, Florence Porter and brothers, Joseph Koenig and Marvin Koenig. The family will receive friends on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Prayers will be said in the funeral home, Friday, Sept. 6, 2013 at 10 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 731 Exchange Street, Vermilion. Father Ron Brickner will officiate. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
