Marian B. Fodor

Marian B. Fodor (née Uebbing), 93, of Vermilion, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at Kingston of Vermilion following a brief illness.

Born on October 31, 1932, in Cleveland, Ohio, Marian was raised in Bay Village. She graduated from Bay High School before marrying the love of her life, Donald "Don" Fodor, in 1951. The newlyweds began their married life in Kentucky while Don was stationed at Fort Knox during his military service. After his service, they returned to Ohio, where they bought a home and raised their family. Thirty-three years ago, Marian and Don moved from Brook Park to Vermilion, where they enjoyed their retirement together.

Marian worked in collections for Firestone Tire & Rubber Company before later serving as a receptionist for Universal Grinding Corporation. She also worked alongside Don creating and painting ceramics, a hobby they both enjoyed. Blessed with a creative spirit, Marian found joy in many artistic pursuits throughout her life, including copper enameling, macramé, painting, knitting, and, in her later years, adult coloring.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Marian treasured time with her family above all else. She especially loved watching her grandchildren grow into adulthood and was grateful to witness the next generations of her family, including her great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Her happiest moments were often spent surrounded by those she loved or enjoying the warmth of the sunshine by the lake.

Marian was a faithful member of Grace United Methodist Church in Vermilion, where she found fellowship and comfort in her later years.

She is survived by her daughters, Donna Lane of Lorain and Diane (Larry) Maria of Vermilion; her grandchildren, Madison (Tyler) Raabe, Zachary (Jordin) Maria, Jamie (Derek) Nicol, and Nick Lane; four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and her brother, Ronald (Helen) Uebbing.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, Donald Edward Fodor; her parents, Theodore and Elizabeth (née Orr) Uebbing; her stepfather, Earl Narney; her brothers, Lawrence "Pete" (Betty) Uebbing and Theodore (Marilyn) Uebbing; and her cherished dog, Cricket.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, Coen and West Lake Roads, Vermilion, Ohio 44089.
