Marie W Pena

Marie W. Pena (nee Stamatis), 81, of Vermilion, died Thursday, December 8, 2016 at Firelands Regional Medical Center Main Campus after a short illness. She was born February 24, 1935 in Lorain and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 50 years moving from California . Marie graduated from the Lorain High School class of 1953B and worked at her mother's store, City Cigar Store, Lorain. In 1969, Marie and her husband Arnold purchased the Vermilion Country Club where she worked until 2002. Growing up, she was a member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, Lorain and had also been a member of the Quota Club. She enjoyed playing cards and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her; daughter, Lori (Jim Johnson) Bartlett of Huron; sons, Mark (Susan) Pena of Vermilion, Terry (Sharon Chmura) Pena of Vermilion, and Rick (Kendra Sheppard) Pena of Vermilion; grandchildren: Hubert M. Bartlett, Emily Bartlett, Daryl Pena, Cheryl Pena, Matthew Pena, Caryl Sanders, Katherine Pena, Andrew Pena, Reid Pena, Grant Pena, Tom Pena, Tara Pena, and Luke Pena; 9 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Sandra Stamatis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Pena, May 7, 2016; parents, Angelo and Mildred (nee Zunich) Stamatis; brother, Gust Stamatis; son, David Pena; and her daughter, Cynthia Marks. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 11, 2016 from 4-8 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Friends may also call on Monday, December 12, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. The Chaplain Mel Sayler officiating.
