Marilla A. Nedro (née Granata), 80, of Vermilion, passed away on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at Fairview Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Born on December 25, 1944, in Painesville, Ohio, Marilla had made Vermilion her home for the past 55 years after moving from her hometown.
A dedicated educator, Marilla taught in the Vermilion, Lorain, South Amherst, and Elyria school districts for a total of 40 years. She concluded her career as a Gifted and Talented teacher with Elyria Schools, retiring in 2012.
She had been a member of both the Vermilion E&R Church and the Vermilion United Church of Christ Congregational. Marilla had a passion for the arts, especially watercolor painting, and took great joy in attending her weekly painting classes. She was an avid fan of Jeopardy!, enjoyed reading, traveling, and was a frequent patron of performances at Playhouse Square.
She is survived by her son, Josh Nedro of Vermilion; her grandchildren, Elijah Nedro, Abigail Link, Margaret Link, Gianna Stanley, and Josie Nedro; and her sister, Nancy (Jim) McCormick of California.
Marilla was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Larry Nedro (1992); her daughter, Julianna Nedro (2014); her parents, Peter and Helen (née Shaw) Granata; and her in-laws, Lawrence and Jeanne Nedro.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Monday, June 30, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 6:00 p.m. at Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion. Pastor Wally Burman will officiate. Interment will take place at a later date at Rugby Cemetery, Vermilion.
