Mark Morrison, 75, of Brownhelm Township, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, June 14, 2026, following a brief illness.
Born on January 23, 1951, in Chicago, Illinois. Mark grew up in Columbus as one of eight children and achieved the title of Eagle Scout. Mark made Brownhelm Township his home for the past 24 years after relocating from Elyria.
He proudly served in the US Army as a helicopter pilot for 30 years, attaining the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 4. He was deployed multiple times in service of his country. Mark was a graduate of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio earning his degree in business. He dedicated 21 years of service to the Federal Aviation Administration as an Air Traffic Controller at the Oberlin Center, retiring in 2006.
He was a member of VFW Post #1662 and AMVETS Post #22. Mark enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially working in his yard, birdwatching, and golfing. He will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his service to his country, and the friendships he cultivated throughout his life. A trusted mentor to family and friends, Mark was always generous with his time, wisdom, and encouragement, offering guidance and support whenever it was needed.
Mark is survived by his beloved wife of 31 years, Darlene (nee Walker) Morrison of Vermilion; sons, Ian Morrison of Elyria and Christopher (Anne) Morrison of LaGrange; daughter, Megan (Andy White) Fernandez of Columbus; cherished grandchildren: Brendan, Colin, Matthew, John, Elinor, Lucas and Ryan; brother, Charley (Mary) Morrison; and sisters, Katie (Dave) Pleake, Jean (Pat) Snyder, Sue (Jim) Hoag, and Maggie (Jim) Shroyer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Marion (nee Kartheiser) Morrison; and brothers, Mike (Mary Ellen) Morrison and Tim (Sheryl) Morrison.
The family will receive friends on Friday, June 26, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, OH 44089. Inurnment will follow at Rugby Cemetery where Military Honors will be presented.
