Mark Anthony Stavole

Mark Anthony Stavole, 51, of Vermilion, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, following a sudden illness.

Born on December 20, 1974, in Sandusky, Ohio, Mark was a lifelong resident of Vermilion and a familiar, friendly face throughout the community.

Mark dedicated much of his career to the restaurant industry, serving guests with warmth and professionalism. He worked for ten years at Chez François Restaurant in Vermilion and another ten years at Hyde Park Prime Steakhouse at Crocker Park.

A talented athlete, Mark played baseball at Findlay College and was a member of a State Championship Hot Stove baseball team. He was an avid sports enthusiast throughout his life, but his greatest enjoyment came from spending time on the golf course with his friends. Mark also found peace and happiness in gardening and took pleasure in watching the birds and squirrels around his home.

He is survived by his loving parents, Mark T. and Pamela (née Cocklin) Stavole of Vermilion; his son, Anthony Stavole; his brother, Aaron Stavole; his niece, Emma Stavole, all of Vermilion; his aunts, Marsha L. Hixon and Charlene R. Barton; his aunt and uncle, Lorna Jo and Stan Falkowski; his uncle, Kenny Stavole; and many cherished cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Mark was preceded in death by his infant brother, Brian Thomas Stavole; his nephew, Cory J. Hammack; his maternal grandparents, Dale Robert and Ruth Cocklin; and his paternal grandparents, Alfred Stavole and Josephine Stavole Manuel.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 9, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. at Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Inurnment will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery at a later date.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Riddle Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses.
