Martha E. Fritz (nee Cooper), 85, of Vermilion, died Monday, November 30, 2015 at her home after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born February 20, 1930 in Portsmouth, OH, and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 28 years moving from Berea. Martha worked as a fourth grade teacher in Columbus and Republic School Systems. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Vermilion and the Vermilion Boat Club. Martha's love was her garden. She also enjoyed boating and traveling the world. She walked the Great Wall of China and sailed down the Nile. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Robert Fritz of Vermilion; sons, David (Sandra) Fritz of Cincinnati, William (Theresa) Fritz of Maiden, VA, and Richard Fritz of Olmsted Falls; grandchildren: Jesse, Katlin, and Kadra; and her sister, Edith Fisher of Plantation, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Amelia (nee Diehlman) Cooper. The family will receive friends on Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015 from 10:00 am until the time of a memorial service at 11:30 am at Trinity Lutheran Church, 3747 Liberty Ave., Vermilion. The Reverend Richard J. Leseganich will officiate. Inurnment will follow at Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
