Martha E. Horner,(nee Green), 83, of Amherst, died Monday, January 21, 2008 in Fairview Hospital after a short illness. She was born September 4, 1924 in Paintsville, KY. She had lived most of her life in Vermilion and had lived in Amherst the last 11 years. She was a member of Harbourtown Community Church where she was a Sunday School teacher. She also enjoyed cooking. Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Edward R. Horner, Sr. of Amherst; daughters, Linda McMillan of Amherst, Kathy Schoening of Dubuis, PA, Shirley Sue Poprock of Lorain, Birtha Mae Manley of Sandusky, Brenda Kay Boyd of Vermilion; son, Edward R. Horner, Jr. of Vermilion; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, Columbus and Bertha (nee Right) Green; 2 granddaughters, Belinda Boyd and Marsha Schoening; brothers Tim, Charlie, Bill and Raymond Green; and sisters, Rosey and Lillie Skaggs. Friends may call Thursday, January 24, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Services will be held at the Riddle Funeral Home, Friday, January 25, 2008 at 11 a.m. The Reverend Jim Cooper, pastor of Harboutown Community Church, will officiate. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens. Contributions may be made to the Fairview Hospital Cardiac Care Unit.
