Martin Blaine Fisher, 69, of Vermilion, died Thursday, April 7, 2011 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph after a one and a half year battle with cancer. Born April 14, 1941 in Gassaway, WV, he had been a Vermilion resident for the past 33 years moving from Lorain. Martin worked for the City of Vermilion in the Street Department and Water Department for 34 years retiring in 2001. He enjoyed racing and fishing. He is survived by his wife of 29 years Joan (nee Arnold) Fisher; daughter, Melinda Fisher of Vermilion; son, Rodney (Julie) Fisher of Huron; grandchildren: Ronnie, Brittany, Paul Knox and Allison and Nick Fisher; sister, Frieda Daniels of Elyria; brothers, Wayne Fisher of Elyria and Bobby Fisher of Wakeman and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Savilla (nee Rogers) Fisher; brother, Leon Fisher; and sister, Leo Hatfield. The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 10, 2011 from 4-8 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street Vermilion OH. Funeral services will be Monday, April 11, 2011 at 10:00 am at the funeral home. Reverend Mike Smith will officiate. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery Vermilion.
