Mary Lewandowski (nee Bielecki), age 80, of Lorain, died Wednesday, October 8, 2003 in New Life Hospice Residental Center in Lorain, following a lengthy illness. She was born on June 23, 1923 in Lublin, Poland and has been a resident of Lorain since 1949. She worked as a stamper for Lorain Products for 28 years, retiring in 1988. She also worked for Weitz Company for 7 years. She was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church and its Altar & Rosary Society, the United Polish Club Ladies Auxillary and the Golden Age Pension Club of Lorain. Her hobbies included crocheting, gardening and enjoyed children. Survivors include her daughters, Sophie Beckler of Avon Lake and Jane Schon of Lorain; 2 grandchildren; a brother, Joseph Bielecki of Poland. Preceding her in death were her husband, Marion Lewandowski, parents, Anthony and Sophie (nee Dziala) Bielecki, brothers John, Stanley and Julian and sisters, Katrin, Janina and Eva. Friends may call Friday, October 10, 2003 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Dombrowski-Volak-Riddle Funeral Home, 1939 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain. The Rosary will be recited by the Nativity BVM Altar and Rosary Society at 3:00pm. Prayers will be said at the funeral home at 9:30 am Saturday, October 11, 2003 followed by a 10:00am Mass of Christian Burial at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church. Reverend Robert J. Glepko, pastor, will be the Celebrant. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church Restoration Fund, 418 W. 15th Street, Lorain, Ohio 44052.
