Mary F. Philbrook (nee Mills), 84 of Vermilion, died Friday, February 29, 2008 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, Lorain, after a lengthy illness. She was born July 29, 1923 in Mount Desert Island, Maine and grew up and attended schools in Tenants Harbor, Maine. She had been a resident of Thomaston, Maine until moving to Vermilion in September of 2004. She was a homemaker and a seasonal worker in the seafood industries along the Maine Coast. She spent many hours knitting and watching the Boston Red Sox. She had been a member of the First Baptist Church in Rockland, Maine, and Owl's Head Baptist Church in Owl's Head, Maine. She is survived by her son, Neil (Cheryl) Philbrook of Dallas, GA; daughter, Carol (James) Peter of Vermilion, OH; brother, Arthur (Margaret) Mills of Warren, Maine; sisters, Pearl Farmer of Winder, GA, Grace Conway, Mae Philbrook, Elsie York all of Rockland, MA; 4 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roland W. Philbrook in 1995; and her parents, Wesley and Lena (nee Morris) Mills in 1981 and 1987. There will be no local services. Private interment will take place at a later date in Achorn Cemetery in Rockland, Maine. Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion was entrusted with arrangements.
