Mary F. Poplar (nee Severa), 89, of Lorain, died Sunday, December 12, 2010 in Anchor Lodge Nursing Home after a short illness. She was born August 25, 1921 in Lorain where she has been a life long resident. She worked for American Ship during the war and then worked in the cafeteria for Lorain Schools for 23 years, retiring in 1983. Mary was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, Lorain. She enjoyed traveling, gambling, playing cards, baking, cooking, and caring for her family. Survivors include her son, David (Debra J.) Poplar of Kipton; daughters, Barb (Rodger) Witter of Birmingham and Margie (John) Cangiano of Ellicott City, Maryland; grandsons, Brian and Tony Witter; granddaughters, Carly Ramsdell and Marcy Lockerman; great-granddaughters, Adi Witter and Ava Lockerman; and great-grandsons, Quinn Lockerman and Max Ramsdell. Preceding her in death were her husband Donald Poplar in 2008; parents, Frank and Mari (nee Sabo) Severa; brothers, Joe Frank, Charlie, and John; and sister Marge Johnson. Friends may call Thursday, December 16, 2010 from 4-8 pm at the Dombrowski-Riddle Funeral Home 1939 Oberlin Ave. Lorain. Prayers will be said at the funeral home on Friday, Dec. 17, 2010 at 9:30 am followed by a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial at thee Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church 418 W. 15th St. Lorain, OH. The Rev. Robert Glepko will officiate. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
