Mary Jane Porter (nee Buell), 97, of Chelsea, AL, died Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at her home after a short illness. She was born June 17, 1919 in Vermilion and had been a life long Vermilion and Brownhelm Twp. resident until moving to Chelsea, AL in 2012. Mary had worked as a clerk for Harts Drug Store, Vermilion for 25 years. She was a member of Brownhelm Congregational United Church of Christ and Madeline Chapter #204 O.E.S. Mary Jane had volunteered her time as a poll worker at the voting booths and enjoyed gardening and traveling. She is survived by her daughter, Jane C Phillips of Chelsea, AL and Susan Ann Kishman of Vermilion; grandchildren, Heather Lewis, Jeff Phillips, and Annalee Gray; and 5 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Ashby Porter, in 2005; father, Dr. Bernard Blaine Buell and mother, Orpha Mae (nee Post) Buell; brother, Henry Buell; and sister, Katherine Laub. Friends may call Monday, Jan. 2, 2017 from 3:00 p.m. until the time of an Eastern Star service at 4:45 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, OH. Private graveside services will be held at Brownhelm Cemetery at a later date. The family suggests memorial contributions to Brownhelm Congregational Church of Christ, 2144 North Ridge Rd., Vermilion, OH 44089. Online condolences may be made at www.riddlefuneralhome.com.
