Mary Anna Potter (nee Dorshorst), 81, of Sandusky, died Thursday, October 13, 2011 at Firelands Regional Medical Center Main Campus. Mary was born March 9, 1930 in Rushville, NE. She had been a Sandusky resident for the past 7 years moving from Vermilion where she had lived since 1951. Mary had worked as a nurse's aide at Rushville Hospital, NE and had also worked at South Shore Packing, Vermilion. She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua, Lorain and St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Sandusky. She was also a member of the CB Radio club. Mary enjoyed embroidery, working in her yard, flowers, dancing, sewing, cooking, baking, gardening, taking long walks, and especially enjoyed taking care of her family. She is survived by her daughters, Lois A. Potter of Bellefontaine, OH, and Judy L. Fleming of Sandusky; sons, Martin C. Potter of Bellefontaine, OH, and Marc "Ikey" Potter of San Jose, CA; grandson, Jeremy Fleming of Sandusky; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Creed Potter in 1994; parents Anton and Wilhelmina (nee Beursken) Dorhorst, and her brother, Anton T. Dorshorst in 1995. The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 16, 2011 from 3-7 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street Vermilion Ohio. Funeral services will be on Monday, October 17, 2011 at 11 am at the funeral home. The Reverend Ron Brickner, pastor of St. Mary Catholic Church, Vermilion will officiate. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.
