Mary Ann Sagert

Mary Ann Sagert (nee Mackin), 76, of Vermilion, died Monday, January 29, 2018 at her home after a lengthy illness. She was born September 29, 1941 in Warren, OH and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 52 years, moving from Amherst. Mary worked for Giant Eagle,Vermilion in the Deli department for 10 years retiring in 2009, and she had also worked at Lake Erie Lanes in Vermilion. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Vermilion. Mary was a past member of the Erie County Women's Democrat Party and the American Legion Women's Aux. She enjoyed reading, playing BINGO, ceramics, drawing and painting, and especially loved her dogs, Bentley and Riley. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Donald Sagert Sr. of Vermilion; sons , Don Jr. (Kelly Boyer) Sagert of Lorain, Duane (Barbie Shank) Sagert of Lorain, and Richard (Jeanne Freeman) Sagert of Vermilion; daughters, Audrey (Rick Lothridge) Phillips of Amherst and Kathy (Jeff Burns) Sagert of Vermilion; grandchildren, Ryan, Adam, Brandy, Stephanie, and Melanie; great grandchildren, Alyssa, Kayla, Gregory, James and Trevor; brothers, Robert Mackin of Amherst, Dan Mackin of Elyria Township, and, Walter Mackin of Amherst; and her sister, Elizabeth Hanson of Vermilion. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Lida (nee Hicks) Mackin. The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 1, 2018, from 10 am until the time of the funeral service at 12 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. The Reverend Ron Brickner will officiate. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
