Mary Young

Mary Young (nee McMillan), 87, of Vermilion, died Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at MetroHealth Medical Center. She was born December 4, 1927 in Glasgow, Scotland and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 52 years moving from Sandusky. Mary worked as a nurses aide for Ohio Extended Care for 15 years retiring in 1990. She was a very active member of AMVETS Post #22 Aux. where she was a volunteer for 39 years. Mary enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading, and spending time with her family. She is survived by her sons, Steven J. (Teresa) Young of Vermilion and Ronald C. Young of Massachusetts; grandsons, Matthew, Daniel, Joshua and John; sister, Margaret (David) Brodie of Winnipeg, Canada; brother, William McMillan of South Africa; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John D. Young in 1975, parents, Andrew and Catherine (nee Fowler) McMillan; sisters, Jane Lange, and Catherine "Rena" Crawford; and brothers, James and Andrew McMillan. The family will receive friends on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2015 from 11:00 am until the time of a memorial service at 1:00 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, OH. Pastor Bob Gardner will officiate. Inurnment will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
